Job Description:

The HACCP Coordinator works in partnership with the QA Manager to act as Food Safety Team Leader which requires leading food safety meetings, maintaining program files such as, but not limited to, HACCP/Slaughter trends, Hazard Analysis, Flow Charts, Reassessments, Validations, in addition to more complex analytical-type tasks such as collecting, compiling, and analyzing data for various program documents and designing and maintaining spreadsheets. The HACCP Coordinator will also work with the quality management team to maintain Food Defense programs, policies and training. The HACCP Coordinator will develop a working knowledge of company policies and procedures and will actively participate and own internal and external facility audits. This individual will serve as a backup for various tasks related to the QA Manager, QA Supervisor, QA Lead, and may be asked to cover QA technician absences and heavy workloads as needed.

Primary Duties:

  • Develop, document, implement, verify, and validate Food Safety and QA processes and

procedures used to monitor incoming raw materials, production, and products (Finished
and Work in Process) to ensure compliance to all regulatory, customer, and company
requirements.

  • Maintain a professional working relationship with USDA/IFSIS.
  • Address and close out any NR’s.
  • Communicates with plant management and supervision on deficiencies and priorities.
  • Helps train new employees.
  • Performs pre shipment review and Shipping Lot Release on loads
  • Conducts HACCP training for all departments.
  • Conducts Pre Op with USDA
  • Will promote and actively demonstrate continuous improvement within the facility
  • Will be Audit Team Leader in partnership with QA Manager.
  • Ensure employees are trained and following all plant and safety, Food Safety, GMP and sanitation regulations.
  • Performs other functions as directed by the Quality Manager or Food Safety Manager and Quality Assurance Director, as needed.

Educational Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Animal science, or equivalent preferred.
  • HACCP Certified.
  • Knowledge of poultry/foods processing principles
  • General knowledge of plant functions: production, maintenance, warehouse, shipping, receiving, and sanitation.

Essential Functions:

  • Ability to speak, see, hear, walk, bend, stoop, reach, twist, grasp, lift, and stand.
  • Ability to lift, stack or carry materials in boxes, up to 30 to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to work in humid, hot temperatures.
  • Ability to work safely.
  • Manual dexterity and hand to eye coordination.
